Ian McGowan

Hello! I'm Ian and i am a 2nd year crimonology student. I have decided to put myself forward for the position of secretary next year. This role is very important and includes the tasks of setting the committee agenda (with the committees input), reviewing action points from previous meetings, publishing all meeting minutes and attending regular committee meetings.

I believe I have a lot to offer the LGBT in this position. I am very organised efficient and attend most of the meetings. Since being in the LGBT in the last year I feel I have grown as a person and become more confident and outgoing. I have enjoyed my time this year in the LGBT and have a passion to become more involved and help the LGBT maintain the high standard of fun and support which I have experienced this year.

I have had experience in acting in a supporting and organising role in my previous job in marketing. I have also had experience in target and agenda setting with my previous job as a supervisor. I have a passion to see the already great LGBT become bigger and better. I am very good at dealing with people and am very approachable which will be helpful in this role.

Ian has shown that he is a committed member of the LGBT, attending meetings and trips regularly. His friendly and approachable attitude is just what is needed for a role on the committee and I’m sure he would do a fantastic job of welcoming new and old members into the society.

As well as good relations with society members I think Ian would do a great job liaising with the rest of the committee, his experience in agenda setting is a great asset that he can bring to the role of secretary.

In short, I am seconding Ian for the role of secretary as I believe he possesses the right interpersonal and professional skills to fulfil the role extremely well and will be able to step into the role efficiently in order to make a great success of his time as LGBT secretary.
