Workshop on Sexual Orientation and Gender Identity Equality in Post-School Education
The Forum for Sexual Identity and Gender Identity Equality in Post-School Education is running the above workshop. Dates and venues are:
Wednesday 30 January 2008 in Manchester
Wednesday 20 February in London
Wednesday 5 March in Cardiff
These events will take place between 11.00am – 4.30pm and lunch will be provided. They are all free to attend.
The workshop will cover identifying potential issues and barriers, sharing good practice, how to improve and embed gender identity and sexual orientation equality in your union/institute/organisation and networking.
Who should attend?
Anyone who wants to improve their awareness and understanding of sexual orientation and/or gender identity equality in post-school education. This could include students, teaching and non-teaching staff, managers, staff with responsibility for equal opportunities policy and practice, and union representatives from across the learning and skills and HE sectors, including colleges, universities, local authorities and training providers.
Who is the forum?
The Forum for Sexual Orientation and Gender Identity Equality in Post-School Education brings together representatives from Lifelong Learning UK (LLUK), Centre for Excellence in Leadership (CEL), UNISON, Universities and Colleges Union (UCU), National Union of Students (NUS), Association of Teachers and Lecturers (ATL), Association of Colleges (AoC), Learning and Skills Council (LSC), Equality Challenge Unit (ECU), and the Quality Improvement Agency for Lifelong Learning (QIA). It was formed in response to the CEL report Equality and Sexual Orientation: the leadership challenge for further education.
How do I sign up to the workshop?
Please complete the attached application form and return it to geraldine.smith@nus.org.uk at least a week before the event you wish to attend. Places will be available on a first-come, first-served basis. We look forward to seeing you there.
