Ladies and Gentlemen,
Your LGBT Committee is in need of a Treasurer! We need somebody to join our team and handle our finances. If you think you're up for it and you're interested, keep reading for the essential information, and tips on how to write your manifesto.
First up, here's what is expected of our Treasurer in terms of their duties:
1) - Collect all trip / event money from members.
2) - Pay in / withdraw any society money.
3) - Manage the account by getting balance statements from the finance office every month.
4) - Help the committee reach fair and practical prices for trips, events etc.
5) - Be pretty and lovely.
Reckon you can handle that? Then here's what you need to do. Simply write a manifesto telling us a bit about yourself. Include what skills and abilities you have that make you the best person for the position. Tell us about what being a part of the LGBT means to you, the experiences you've had, and what ideas you have for the society. Is there an aspect of your course or job that gives you the skills required to be Treasurer? Tell us!
You then need somebody to write a seconding statement for you. This person can be anyone you want, though most people ask a committee member to write it for them. That person has to write why they believe that you are the best person for the position, so pick wisely!
Manifestos should be around 500 words or so in length, and the seconding statement about 100. Harvard APA format must be used when referencing, and the usual +/- 10% applies to the word count.....if you don't get that, your course is too easy
Seriously though, don't worry about writing exactly 500 words, just make sure to really sell yourself.
Once you've written your manifesto and someone has written your seconding statement, put them in ONE email and send it to monkey_boy_89@hotmail.com . Title the email with your name, and don't forget to include the name of your seconder. After the committee have been over them, they will then be posted on the forum for all members to read.
The final stage is, of course, elections! They will run on our Wednesday meeting, details to follow soon. Good luck writing your manifesto!
