Here are the two manifestos we have received from members wishing to be our treasurer. Take the time to read over them, as elections will be held shortly.

Gregory Hall – Treasurer.
Hi, I’m Greg and as you have read just above I am applying for the position of Treasurer.
I would be privileged to hold this position for many reasons. However, my main drive in applying for the job is that, even though, I have only been a member of the LGBT for a short while, what I have experienced of the society has been so inspirational and enjoyable that I wish to be a part of the committee who has made all of these great things happen.
Okay, so enough arse-licking, now let's get down to the important stuff. What qualifies me to be a good treasurer?
I am currently in my first year of studying Drama and Film (horrendously obvious I hear many of you say). I absolutely adore both subjects and every aspect of the course and even at this early stage of my studies I have found that I have been taught some invaluable skills, which would benefit the position, I’m applying for.
Studying Film which is basically English but more fun and Drama to a certain extent constantly requires me to work to strict deadlines whether it be me having to hand in essays or learn a piece of script I am expected to do these things with very short notice and exceptionally well.
In addition, Drama involves a lot of group work so I am accustomed to working in a team as well as independently. This constant teamwork has enforced upon me the importance of working within a team and how presenting a united front aids the smooth running of any society.
Joining the LGBT has made such a positive impact on my life as a student and a gay man so much so that I want to be able to give something back and aid the committee in making you an even more fantastic society out of the LGBT.
Seconded by Ian McGowan (Secretary):
After reading this manifesto I can see many things that would make Greg an ideal candidate for the position of treasurer. He has many qualities, such as being friendly, entertaining, a good laugh and able to get on with a wide range of people. This will aid Greg working within the current committee. The ability of working both independently and in a team is very important as the committee only meet officially once a week. I know Greg has touched upon only being part of the LGBT for a short while, however he has participated in all the LGBT activities and meetings and has made himself well known to the members, which shows a great personality and passion for the society. I am therefore seconding Greg for the position of treasurer as I believe he would be an ideal candidate and bring some new ideas and be an asset to the decision making function of the committee.

Kishan Sajvani - Treasurer.
My name is Kishan and I am running for Treasurer. I’m currently in my second to last year of my Biomedical Science degree. I am running for this post as in the past, I have been involved in many group and societies’, for whom I have carried out the role of Treasurer; the most successful being a part of Young Enterprise. This position has provided me with a lot of skills that I could transfer into making sure that the society finance’s are run correctly, allowing us to organise and run events for the benefit of our members. I believe that my attention to detail and passion for the role makes me a good candidate for this position.
In the short time that I have been a member of the LGBT, I have seen myself grow into the individual that I am today. It has also given me the opportunity to meet an incredible group of people, who have accepted me for who I am and who I can call good friends. With this in mind I want to become Treasurer for the LGBT so that I want to make sure that the success of the society continues, not only this year, but into the future.
I believe I am a diplomatic person and if elected would do my best to bring any ideas that might benefit the society. I am always up for trying new things and having fun, and am always open to suggestions and ideas. I enjoy working as part of a group, but am also able to work individually. Also, I am sensible and practical, as well as being eager to meet new people and I believe that these qualities are all important for being on the LGBT committee.
Seconded by Rob Mansergh (President):
Kishan has been an active, confident and enthusiastic member of the LGBT society since he joined last year. He is always willing to lend a hand and bring new ideas to the table; I’ve always found him to be a reliable and trustworthy person and I am pleased to second his proposal for the position of Treasurer on the present committee.
Kishan is not only a dedicated member of our society, but also a dedicated student. His keen interest in his course and professional approach to work is an excellent quality, which are essential for the smooth running of the LGBT finances and I am confident that Kishan has the necessary skills and experience to do just that.
